(but because you are using the audiobox as the midi connection it will show the audiobox as listed as the receive from) Receive From is asking what is Studio One receiving from and you are telling it that the drumpad is the source into Studio One. In the receive From box you should see the audiobox listed there so select that. You can name it and call it Yamaha Drumpad. The drumpad is in effect a keyboard device sending midi. The icon that has the slider and two knobs on it should show the audiobox in the SEND TO box. One that has the slider and two knobs on it eg to send to and the keyboard icon so you can receive from it. (NOTE if you do want to send midi to the drumpad ie to make sound you will need this device as well) If you want to receive midi from a device and also use the same device to send midi you need two icons in the external devices. The device you have created with the slider and the little knobs on it is a device designed to receive midi not send it. That is the correct device for anything sending into Studio One. What I saying is go to the external devices area again and create a new device except select what looks like the little keyboard icon.

No leave your drum pad connected to the audio box. You should be able to record the audio from the drumpad and the midi at the same time onto two different types of tracks at once. You then need to create an audio track and the select the audio box as the input source. The Microsft midi mapper has nothing to do with any of this I assume.Īs far as recording the sounds from the drumpad, the audio outputs need to be connected to the audio inputs of the audiobox. You are not sending to the drumpad I assume but receiving from it.

Once you do all this correctly the Audiobox will be available as a midi input source. Try adding a keyboard instrument and then in the RECEIVE FROM box you should have the Audiobox listed there so select it. I thought the fact the audiobox was on and running the midi would be automatically there but maybe I am wrong. You need to add an external device that looks like a keyboard eg a controller sending midi. Firstly you have created a device designed to receive a midi signal not send it.
